EEP Field Trip to Quail Ridge Natural Reserve!
Join EEP for a special outing to the University of California's Quail Ridge Natural Reserve, located next to Lake Berryessa, about 27 miles from Davis. Paul Havemann, a CCE parent and a UC Natural Reserve steward will guide us in an orientation to the Quail Ridge reserve and students will participate in an amphibian and reptile survey, learning how wildlife biologists
(a) collect data and
(b) use these animals' populations to monitor environmental change.
We will learn about the natural flora and fauna of this reserve, which is the site of active wildlife and ecological research. Students will have the chance to reflect on what they learn, and enjoy being together in this wild place! This excursion will also help the NRS to develop its Young Docent Program which aims to link the importance of wildland ecosystems with urban ecosystems.
